Soho Gym...
Earls Courts hidden little secret ...Soho Gym. Some gyms are loud, but this place deserves a big noise made about it!
Fun, functional and easy to workout at!
After arriving and having a brief chat with Richard (Duty Manager) and shown around the facility, I realized that it was definitely more than it says on the tin (or website)! The equipment could easily be used by a novice or a pro. Power Plates, free weights, machines, benches you name it, Soho Gym's got it! The staff weren't scared to muck-in and help out, give an exercise a go or show a little flare
(See 'Human Flag' below).
As always, I did some subtle tests, to see how the team responsed to requests and question.
From asking about protein shakes, to help (several times) with weights, to asking about their AB's training techniques. I even tried the "I've forgotten my conditioner, do you have anything I can use?" line and sure enough, the lovely receptionist lent me her conditioner without even
blinking an eye.
You see, one thing that gyms and health clubs forget is that, the little things do really make for a great customer experience. Understanding or willing to listen to a customer's needs & questions. Being patient and do what they can to help and accommodate. Sure they may have put in that little extra effort, as it was me they we're dealing with, but I'd like to think that they are like that with all of their members
(If not, then please let us know!).
Some men may find it a little embarrassing in the open showers, but it kind of reminded me of school showers after PE and a nice change from the ususal shoe box size showers you find in other gyms.
The members attitude seemed to reflect the staffs.
They were happy to talk to me and enjoyed the facilities.
Music:
The music captivated me from the moment I walked in.
Classic old school house, dance, drum&bass, garage
with the first song, just as I was about to start training:
La Roux - Going in for the Kill (remix) ...how fitting!
Only down point:
It's not closer to home or work, for me to use regularly & the cardio area did seem a little squeezed in, but very functional!
All in all, I would recommend joining the
Soho Gym Earls Court.
