I got into bb at the age of 17. i was playing rugby at schools level & started training with weights to build strength. i soon realised i could build muscle on my frame so i decided to ease back on the rugby & train harder with weights. At age 18 i then decided i was ready to compete in my 1st bb show, which was the Mr. Ulster comp (schoolboy category) which i won.
My favorite exercises, i don't really have any certain exercises i favour over others. i look at how certain bodyparts are developing & try to develop them equally to stay balanced & symmetrical. so in a way i have to like all exercises equally & train with the same intensity through each exercise & workout...
over the years i have tried every different type of training style & technique, i have taken bits & pieces from them which worked on my physique, so i don't rule any new or old principles...just try for yourself...
I train 5-6 days per week at the minute. when i'm prepping for a show i train 6-7 days & do cardio am then weight train pm.
MON; back TUE;chest WED;tris, bis THUR;quads FRI;hams, calves, abs SAT;shoulders.
My diet usually stays clean all year round, i try to eat 5-6 meals per day consisting of high protein, medium carbs, medium fats. my first 4 meals i eat carbs, last 2 no carbs. i eat clean mon-fri then i eat what i want
sat & sun.
Favourite healthy foods would be anything from different breads, nuts, dried fruits, yogurts, any type of salads..
At the minute i am sponsored by an irish based company NUTRITION X supplements. the owners alan &
eamonn have constantly helped & supported me for the past few years. i use the full range..everything from their proteins, pre & post workout drinks, creatines & glutamine. i find their products are second to none...
The advice i would give is always warm up any muscle before going into heavy lifting to avoid injury..
I have learnt this lesson the hard way since i tore my pec muscle years ago by not warming up enough.
another piece of advice would be..train your muscle not your ego..i see too many guys in gyms lifting
too heavy a weigh with sloppy form & partial reps..
